Good Fonterra payout positive for NZ’s retailers
Confirmation from dairy giant Fonterra that its 11,000 shareholder farmers will get a good payout for the forthcoming season is great news for the wider economy,” says an Auckland business advocate.
“This will not only be good for the regions, but it’s also a boost for our cities. Let’s not forget that Fonterra is the biggest show in town, and when they’re paying a good dividend, the whole country benefits,” says Cameron Brewer, chief executive of the Newmarket Business Association.
“I’d like to think we’re getting a trifecta of positive news in the fourth quarter of this year: A solid dairy payout; across-the-board personal tax cuts from 1 October; and after much uncertainty a unified Auckland from 1 November.
“It’s tough out there this winter, but things are lining up to be a bit brighter this summer,” says Cameron Brewer.
