July saw the Reserve Bank of New Zealand raise the official cash rate for the second month in row, a signal that they believe they are beginning to see a lift in the strength of the New Zealand economy. The data released this month by the Reserve Bank and Statistics New Zealand gives insight into the reasons behind this decision, with both transaction volumes and values on the up, along with overall credit card billings and signs of a growing sense of confidence among both lenders and borrowers.
