Mortgage Link Appoints New Independent Director

Phil Christmas (Acting Chairman) of Mortgage Link (NZ) limited is pleased to announce the appointment of highly experienced business executive Richard Austin to fill the vacancy on the Mortgage Link Board as an independent Director.

His appointment follows the recent resignation of Ross Butler.

Phil said “Our governance has always been a significant strength of our Company, so we were very keen to bring someone onto the Board with “big picture” skills. We know Richard will work well with me and Charlie Reid, who are also licensees in our Group”.

Richard has significant experience as a senior executive in the financial services industry, as well as a Company Director. He is currently a co-owner of Strategic Wealth Management Group, a wealth management and financial consultancy company. He is a Director of Business Mentors New Zealand, and a counsellor representing Canterbury/Westland on the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants. He is a Trustee and Finance Committee member of the STOP Trust and a past Chairman of the Canterbury/Westland Branch of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants. Previously Richard has been Chief Investment Officer of Gould Holdings for a number of years and Director of a number of their subsidiary Companies. He was also a General Manager at Perpetual Trust.

Mortgage Link is currently reviewing its strategic direction, recognising the significant changes in the financial services industry over recent years. Phil Christmas said “To be a viable company offering an attractive proposition to current and future business owners we recognise the need to continue to reassess our strategies to build on our successful past performance. Richard has already made very constructive contributions to our thinking”.
