Aquaculture New Zealand welcomes appointment of Aquaculture Unit Director

Aquaculture New Zealand has welcomed the appointment of Dan Lees as Director of the Ministry of Fisheries' newly formed Aquaculture Unit.

Aquaculture New Zealand Chief Executive Mike Burrell said the new Aquaculture Unit was a crucial part of the Government's aquaculture reforms.

“The Government has signalled that it intends to be more proactive in setting national policy for aquaculture. The new Aquaculture Unit will play a lead role in developing and implementing this policy," he said.

"Aquaculture New Zealand congratulates Mr Lees on his appointment to this important new role,” Mr Burrell said.

“Mr Lees has been involved with the industry for over a decade and has a good understanding of the sector's challenges and opportunities.”

“We look forward to working with him when he takes up this important new role.”
