A Kiwi Cuppa at the British High Commission
A new blend of Twinings tea will be released on to the supermarket shelves on September the 13th. In a world first, and a Kiwi first, being the only ‘overseas’ blend produced by one of the oldest tea companies.
Stephen Twining the head of the Twining’s Tea empire is in New Zealand promoting the new blend which has a delicate woody taste.
The Acting British High Commissioner, Mike Cherrett, hosted a tea party to celebrate this new special relationship between New Zealand and the United Kingdom. First out of the pot was a cup of the new limited edition Twinings New Zealand Breakfast Tea, created by Andrew Fenemor, a Nelson local.
Mr Fenemor’s tea was the overall winner of the Twinings New Zealand Breakfast Tea Challenge. The challenge asked people to create a blend of tea that captured the taste of New Zealand in a single cup. Stephen Twining said “New Zealand Breakfast Tea is designed as a full-bodied and satisfying blend, designed to get New Zealander’s off to a great start every morning.
Mike Cherrett agreed saying “This is a great cuppa that looks set to go down well in New Zealand and perhaps else where too! Care parcels from New Zealand look set to have a kiwi tea, as well as, chocolate fish and pineapple lumps from now on.”
