Call for submissions on breeding objectives
Call for submissions on breeding objectives
DairyNZ is calling for submissions on the governance structure of the national breeding objective as part of a review to ensure the New Zealand Animal Evaluation Limited managed objective maintains its credibility and independence.
The national breeding objective (NBO) is a breeding goal for the improvement of dairy cattle.
New Zealand Animal Evaluation Limited (NZAEL) is a wholly owned subsidiary of DairyNZ Incorporated. It sets and reviews policy for the NBO.
DairyNZ Director Barbara Kuriger says the pursuit of the NBO has added significant value to the New Zealand Dairy industry over the last 20 years.
“It is arguably the most significant contributor to maintaining the New Zealand dairy industry’s productivity and competitiveness.”
Mrs Kuriger says a key to the success of the NBO has been a cohesive approach to setting policy and the credibility and independence of the organisation responsible for setting that policy.
“DairyNZ wants to hear from farmers so we can ensure the NBO continues to provide those qualities that have made it a success to date.”
A submission form can be downloaded at www.dairynz.co.nz/nbo
The consultation period ends October 15.
