Directors concerned over hoax hobbit release
Screen Directors Guild Of New Zealand Concerned Over Hoax Media Release
A media release claiming to support pay equity for New Zealand directors is a complete hoax, says President of the Screen Directors Guild of New Zealand, Peter Bell.
“We did not issue the release and we are concerned that someone has issued false statements in our name. Whoever has done this hasn’t even managed to get my name correct, so clearly their attention to detail isn’t a strong point.
“While this hoax appears to play on the discussions around the MEAA and The Hobbit, we haven’t taken a position on this issue,” said Mr Bell. “This is a complex area and we are not privy to any of the discussions between the production company and the actors union involved.”
