Christchurch City Council joins Hall of Fame
Christchurch City Council becomes country’s latest
member of international business Hall of
Fame
International management consultancy, Palladium Group has recognised Christchurch City Council as a world class organisation for strategy performance, making the Council one of only seven members of the 2010 Palladium Balanced Scorecard (BSC) Hall of Fame.
The Hall of Fame award honours organisations that have achieved excellence through the use of the Balanced Scorecard, a world recognised management approach designed to achieve best practice in corporate strategy.
Christchurch City Council adopted the approach in 2007 and since then has completely overhauled its planning and management practices to deliver superior results.
Council Chief Executive Tony Marryatt says, “The award is a world-class achievement for the organisation and it’s also great recognition for Christchurch.”
Mr Marryatt credits the BSC approach for significantly improving the Council’s performance.
“As a result of our 2007 commitment to the BSC the Council is now delivering 91 percent of its service targets, up from 65 percent, and staff engagement has increased from 35 percent to 54 percent.”
Founded in 2000, the Palladium BSC Hall of Fame has 144 members from 20 countries, including New Zealand’s 2009 inductee KiwiBank. Christchurch City Council was inducted at a ceremony in Manila late last month.
The award is recognised as the benchmark for managing organisational strategy and performance. Winners are awarded based on the quality of their BSC implementation and the results they demonstrate over a period of at least two years. Members are selected from large and small private sector companies, and public sector agencies and municipalities.
Palladium co-founder and BSC co-creator,
Dr Robert Kaplan visited New Zealand in September, speaking
to hundreds of business leaders at events in Wellington and
Auckland.
