Public asked on vehicle lighting changes
Public asked on vehicle lighting changes
The NZ Transport Agency is seeking public comment on proposed changes to the legal requirements for vehicle lighting in New Zealand.
The draft Land Transport Rule; Vehicle Lighting Amendment [2011] sets out the standards and safety requirements for lighting equipment fitted to vehicles, so they can be operated safely under all driving conditions.
The proposed changes and clarifications aim to ensure New Zealand’s requirements reflect the needs of vehicle operators, are in line with current overseas standards and practice, and can accommodate changing lighting technology, while ensuring that vehicles continue to be operated safely.
Copies of the draft amendment Rule, with an accompanying overview and Q & As can be accessed on the NZ Transport Agency’s website at http://www.nzta.govt.nz/consultation/vehicle-lighting-amendment/ .
Submissions close on Friday, 5 November 2010.
