Looking for a bigger deck?

For ute buyers wanting a bigger deck and extra storage capacity, the wait is over. Mitsubishi has just added two four-seat Club Cabs to its 4WD Triton range - the wellside’s deck measuring a full 300mm longer than its double cab brother.

Club Cab models made up around 13% of the total 4WD ute market in 2009 and the introduction of the Triton GL Cab Chassis and Wellside models coincides with strengthening popularity of the three-diamond workhorses.

Triton sales in 2010 have grown 65% over the previous year and the new Club Cabs are expected to provide a further boost says Mitsubishi head of sales and marketing strategy Daniel Cook.

“Triton is really starting to come into its own,” he said. “We are getting record enquiry and our success in becoming one of only two government ute suppliers speaks volumes for the value and quality of our product. The Club Cabs will add a further option for buyers looking for a proven workhorse that provides the perfect compromise between tray length and seating capacity.

“The rear seat area also provides useful, secure storage, which isn’t available in single cabs,” he adds.

The new seating and tray configurations take Triton’s already comprehensive 4WD range to nine variants. All are powered by a 2.5 litre DID common rail diesel engine, which delivers an impressive 133kW and 407Nm. The new Club Cab models also receive driver and front passenger airbags, a four-star ANCAP safety rating and are the only models in the market that offer a rear differential lock as standard.

Backing up the new Triton Club Cabs is what Mr Cook describes as New Zealand’s best new car warranty; Mitsubishi Motors’ 5/10 Diamond Advantage Warranty. “It provides ten-years cover for the drive train and five years for the whole vehicle – that’s two years more support than any of our competitors and we also throw in five years roadside assist. No other NZ distributor is prepared to back their product as strongly.”
