Tasti’s Clean Sweep at Westpac Waitakere Business Awards
It was a night filled with entertainment, celebration and a touch of sadness as Waitakere Enterprise announced the winners of the 2010 Westpac Waitakere Business Awards. The annual gala dinner at Trusts Stadium on Friday night (8 October) was Mayor Bob Harvey’s final appearance as Waitakere City Mayor and the 730 strong crowd, including Rt. Hon Prime Minister John Key, farewelled this legend while acknowledging excellence within the business community.
Te Atatu Peninsula-based food business Tasti Products Ltd were the big winners of the night, scooping up four awards including Alloy Yachts Employer of Choice Award, Babich Wines Export Business Award, Douglas Pharmaceuticals Best Large Business Award and this year’s Westpac Supreme Business Award.
“We are so humbled about this recognition from our peers. Our focus over the years has been growing our business sustainably and profitably while still being good community citizens.”
“We are so proud that our employees want to get up and go to work each day and are proud of what they do. We make over 10 million muesli bars a week, so we are very appreciative of everyone who have their part to play in continuing to make top-quality products for New Zealanders to enjoy,” says Tasti’s Chief Operating Officer, Bryce Howard.
Tasti’s products have been in New Zealand pantries for generations, starting in 1932 with the original production of crystallised ginger. It has since developed fruit and nut mixes, and in 1980 launched New Zealand’s first muesli bar, Snak Log, which is still available in supermarkets. Today, Tasti employs over 200 people and exports a range of products across Australasia.
The convenor of judges Chad Wilkie said, “Tasti Products is a brilliantly run company in every respect, and its staff, shareholders, management and the Waitakere business community can be very proud of its achievements.”
“Tasti is an entrepreneurial and agile organisation with a 70-year history of traditional product focus, now diversifying in the cereal and nutritional snack markets with amazing success.”
Tasti’s four awards are a sign of a truly excellent approach to doing business.
