asnet Technologies Launches VideoNet

asnet Technologies Launches VideoNet, New Zealand’s first VideoConferencing as a Service Offering

AUCKLAND, New Zealand, 26 October 2010 – asnet Technologies, a Polycom Platinum Partner and service provider, has launched a high-definition videoconferencing solution delivered as a service called VideoNet. The solution is the first of its kind and marks a change for the New Zealand company, selling a locally developed technology service in addition to hardware solutions.

Using the latest equipment from Polycom and connections based on a common set of standards, VideoNet connects the people, places and technologies needed to get business done.

The market for managed services is expanding as customers realize the benefits of outsourcing their IT management. Technologies that use cloud-based computing or Software as a Service (SaaS) have become recognized for delivering the capabilities organizations want without the investment in depreciating equipment or helpdesk support.

Accordingly, the new asnet Technologies VideoNet offering is delivered as a service, where customers have access to the full suite of videoconferencing services backed by asnet support , training and ongoing management for as single set price. asnet has dubbed the solution ‘VideoConferencing as a Service’ or VCaaS.

For a flat monthly fee, VideoNet customers can conduct unlimited bridged calls between locations on their network. This ‘all you can eat’ approach fosters greater contact and collaboration between employees, and permits them to meet in an environment where videoconferencing is an asset instead of a cost.

“Videoconferencing is here and useful for businesses of any size. If you can save one flight per month from each office location, you can get started using videoconferencing services,” says Chris Stewart, General Manager of asnet Technologies. “We think VideoNet is the perfect solution for companies tired of poor quality consumer solutions and that are ready to step up to high definition, business-class features. All you need is two locations, a bit of network infrastructure, and you’re good to go.”

VideoNet is capable of point-to-point connections between two units, or using virtual meeting spaces where three or more users can connect. An audio dial-in option is also available, permitting users without videoconferencing equipment to participate.

The VideoNet solution blends five different videoconferencing endpoints into one seamless environment. The endpoint options are:
VideoNet Boardroom ($1,333 per month for 720P high definition, or $1,555 for 1080P high definition) is a pair of 52-inch LCD displays mounted on a moveable cart with a high-definition video camera.

VideoNet Meeting ($766 per month) is a high-definition 42-inch LCD display and camera mounted on a moveable cart with full Telepresence capability.

VideoNet Executive ($275 per month) is ideal for use in an individual office, with a 24-inch LCD display and camera fully maintained and supported by asnet Technologies.

VideoNet Teleworker ($199 per month) is a Polycom VVX 1500 IP-based media phone with attached LCD screen and camera.

VideoNet Desktop ($25 per month per desktop) software uses a laptop webcam and display to provide portable videoconferencing on the go. It’s ideal for remote workers or road warriors, and offers full telepresence capabilities in addition to videoconferencing.

The VideoNet Connect service marries existing endpoints into a Polycom RMX High Definition bridge, all for a single monthly fee. The bridge is the connection point for the different endpoints, combining and directing the audio and video to each screen in the VideoNet Solution.

External parties can connect to the VideoNet meeting space through the bridge using any videoconferencing equipment that operates on the common H.323 standard.

asnet Technologies is a local New Zealand company committed to bridging geographic distances and improving our connection to the world with better technology and more collaboration.
