Director of Flooring Brands, Willi Hill passes away

Auckland, New Zealand – It is with deep sadness that Flooring Brands announces that Director Willi Hill has passed away after a year long battle with cancer, aged 65.

Hill was the Managing Director of Hills Floorings, Director of Flooring Brands and Chairman of the Flooring Brands franchise group The Floor Store. A patron of the arts and, together with his wife Coral, a well known Auckland figure.

“Willi was a great thinker and had become a great friend. He was widely acknowledged as a leader in the industry. His insights into the industry and the business, coupled with his passion, were always appreciated. He was a very rare person, sophisticated and stylish, and it has been a privilege to work alongside Willi. The company, and I personally will miss him a lot,” said Rodney Martin, Chairman of Flooring Brands.

Willi joined the family business in 1962 and took over as Managing Director in 1980. During the 30 years that Willi led the company, along with his brothers David and George, he was responsible for growing the business to the largest commercial flooring operation in the country, a market leader employing almost 100 staff.

Willi Hill lived in Herne Bay, Auckland, and is survived by his wife Coral and his two brothers, David and George.
