Top 200 Awards finalists

Top 200 Awards finalists represent the future of NZ business

The three contenders for the prestigious title of Company of the Year in the 2010 Deloitte/Management magazine Top 200 Awards have been found, with the winner to be announced at a black-tie dinner in Auckland on 2 December.

Engineering and project management consultancy Beca Group, healthcare supplies company Ebos Group, and Ryman Healthcare Group are the finalists drawn from NZ Management magazine’s annual listing of New Zealand’s largest corporations.

Judges convenor Reg Birchfield says healthcare and services sector companies feature strongly among the finalists for the awards this year.

“The outstanding companies from these sectors signal a strong future growth area for New Zealand businesses. They are about capitalising on intellectual expertise and represent a healthy diversification from our current heavy reliance on commodity industries.”

The finalists for the coveted title of Deloitte/Management magazine Executive of the Year are Alan Clarke (Abano Healthcare Group), John Fellet (Sky Network Television), and Mark Waller (Ebos Group).

Mr Birchfield says the judges had a tough task to find a shortlist of three from a strong field of world-class business leaders who run New Zealand companies.

“The recession has certainly sorted well-managed and well-governed companies from the rest, and gave clarity about which New Zealand companies have the underlying strength to consolidate in tough times and take advantage of the following upturn.”
