Transparency challenge set down for NZ Businesses

Transparency challenge set down for New Zealand businesses

Kiwi-owned consultancy firm Envirostate have set an ambitious target of working together with 100 New Zealand companies within 100 weeks to meet the world’s toughest sustainability reporting standard.

By the end of 2012 Envirostate plan to work together with one hundred of the country’s best businesses so that they implement the Global Reporting Initiative’s (GRI) G3 sustainability reporting framework.

In the global market place we would like to see New Zealand’s leading businesses trading on a 100% Transparent brand, says Envirostate’s managing director Calum Revfem.

“Foreign competitors in all of our competitive-advantage business sectors and markets are getting their houses in order and rapidly improving their levels of environmental and sustainability performance and reporting. If we continuously leverage our clean, green image without any forms of rigorous or transparent reporting we risk a serious credibility failure.”

Envirostate plan to work together with participating companies, enablers and partners. They have identified accountants, sustainability consultants, PR firms, advertising agencies, business organisations, government agencies and industry groups as important players.

As a GRI certified training partner Envirostate have begun the delivery of certified GRI training courses in New Zealand. For more information visit www.envirostate.co.nz.
