Fuso number one for 2010

Thursday, 13 January 2011

Fuso topped the sales chart for 2010, selling more heavy commercial vehicles in New Zealand than any other distributor. The company begins the new year with a 15.1% market share.

From a tenuous single unit lead in June, the brand finished the year 17 units clear of its nearest rival and 75 ahead of third place.

Fuso national sales manager Roger White attributes the result to the basics - hard work and good product.

"Fuso dealers worked incredibly hard through one of the toughest trading years in history and I'm delighted their effort has been rewarded," he said. "Our product range, which will receive two significant upgrades in 2011, is one of the most comprehensive we've had and its success is testament to the value Fuso adds to our customers' businesses.

"In a difficult economy, transport operators need to have confidence in their machinery and Fuso's reputation for value, reliability and easy-to-access network and parts provides that peace-of-mind," said Mr White.

The brand was successful across its entire range with a total of 384 units sold. The standout performers were Canter and Fighter, with 186 and 109 units respectively. Fifty Shoguns were registered, along with 39 Rosa buses.

"Like every good team, we wanted to finish strong. With 51 units and 21.1% share of sales in December, I'd say we did exactly that. This year will again have its challenges but with new product coming soon and such a strong validation from the market, we'll be doing everything we can to defend our title of Number One!"
