New Eftpos service promises to end down time frustrations
Those frustrating words “the eftpos is down sorry” could soon be a thing of the past with new technology launched this month.
Hundreds of retail businesses are expected to soon be lining up for a new instant backup service for eftpos that will ensure shoppers and businesses don’t lose out when the service is down.
Eftpos provider Viaduct have launched the instant back up solution HOTswap in response to demand from the hospitality industry in the lead up to the Rugby World Cup.
Viaduct Director Mark Unwin says the HOTswap product came about after discussions with their customers who were concerned about losing business during busy times, especially around the Rugby World Cup.
“They wanted a faster onsite backup service and this is a way of guaranteeing response times no matter where in the country they are. Our testing shows we expect business to be back up and running, and customers able to complete their purchase, within 5 minutes from failure.”
Jeanette Swift from the Hospitality Association, whose members spearheaded the request for the service, says the new system will be invaluable.
“We are delighted to be part of any initiative that ensures our clients can keep their businesses running smoothly during technical glitches, and that ensures the public can buy what they want when they want it.”
Viaduct has been testing the product in Wellington and is expecting to sign up 1000 businesses to the product over the next six months.
