Sir Geoffrey Palmer Joins Harbour Chambers
The Rt Hon Sir Geoffrey Palmer SC has joined the Wellington legal chambers Harbour Chambers. He will be in practice as a barrister with his principal areas of specialty being international, parliamentary, and constitutional law. In addition he will continue his long interest in resource management law.
Sir Geoffrey last year completed five years as Chair of the Law Commission. He is currently the chair of a United Nations inquiry, based in New York, into the Flotilla incident off Gaza in May 2010. He will complete that inquiry before taking up practice as a barrister.
He joins Hugh Rennie QC, Chris Hodson QC, and five other counsel in Harbour Chambers, which was established in 1991 and is one of the longest-established chambers of barristers in Wellington.
Mr Hodson QC is also Judge Advocate General of the Armed Forces and Chief Judge of the Court Martial of New Zealand, and Mr Rennie QC is the deputy chair of the Rugby World Cup Authority.
