Heyday scoops three wins at ONYAs

Digital agency Heyday has won three categories at the 2011 ONYAs web industry awards, including the supreme ONYA – Most Outstanding Website – for Down to the Wire.

The trio of gongs marks a fantastic six months for the agency which celebrated its 10th anniversary by relaunching itself as Heyday in the spring. This was the first time that the agency (formerly Doubleclique) has entered the ONYAs.

Down to the Wire (downtothewire.co.nz), which was created by Heyday to celebrate 21 years of New Zealand’s Internet, won the Best Content (Corporate) category as well as the award for Most Outstanding Website. Heyday’s own site (heyday.co.nz) won the ONYA for Best Use of HTML/CSS.

The judges particularly praised downtothewire.co.nz for its “lively, idiosyncratic history of the Internet in New Zealand. Fun history in bits and bobs, interviews, videos and episodes. Remember this – remember that? You were there, mate.”

Heyday founder Luke Pierson says: “We’re thrilled that the judges recognised Heyday with these awards. In relaunching as Heyday we were determined to challenge ourselves and show what can be achieved in digital. Down to the Wire was an ambitious project that tested us across a huge range of disciplines while Heyday’s own website needed to be a technological tour de force to demonstrate our skills. Both of these major projects – handled entirely in-house – were at the heart of our relaunch and needed to be delivered at the same time. It required a monumental effort from our team. To win any of the three ONYAs categories would have been a fantastic reward for us, but to win all three – including the supreme award for Down to the Wire – quite frankly knocked us out. It was simply an amazing night.”
