Price of milk at Countdown staying down for 2011

Price of milk at Countdown staying down for 2011

Countdown supermarkets today confirmed that the price of all fresh white milk products will freeze for the rest of 2011.

National Communications and Public Affairs Manager at Countdown Supermarkets, Luke Schepen, said the price freeze will cover all Countdown Supermarkets across New Zealand as well as other Progressive Enterprises brands including Woolworths and Foodtown.

“The price of all fresh white milk at Countdown, Woolworths & Foodtown will not increase this year,” Mr Schepen said.

“Whether our customers are after full cream milk, lite milk or trim milk, the prices will be staying down,” he said.

Mr Schepen said Countdown will absorb any increase in supermarket costs to ensure the prices on fresh white milk products remain stable.

“This is our milk price guarantee for 2011. At Countdown, we are working hard to deliver New Zealanders the best possible value for their shopping dollar," he added.

Mr Schepen also congratulated Fonterra on the company’s decision to freeze their wholesale domestic milk price.

“Together we can now ensure that the only direction fresh white milk prices in New Zealand can go in 2011, is down,” he added.
