Citi Supports Christchurch Earthquake Disaster Relief

AUCKLAND, March 1, 2011

Citigroup, Inc. has pledged NZ$100,000 to the New Zealand Red Cross and launched an employee fundraising appeal to support earthquake disaster relief efforts in Christchurch.

Citi chief country officer for Australasia, Stephen Roberts, said: “Many of our colleagues and clients in New Zealand, Australia and around the globe have family and friends located in Christchurch. Our heart felt concern goes out to them all; we hope our efforts will provide some assistance as they seek to rebuild their lives and their city.”

Citi New Zealand chief country officer, Derek Syme, said: “This is a tragedy on an unprecedented scale in New Zealand and our thoughts are with the people of Christchurch. We are working with our clients who have operations in the city to provide support and services where needed. Our thanks to our partners at the Red Cross for providing support to those in need.”
