Financial Markets Authority Chairman designate Simon Allen and CEO designate Sean Hughes welcomed the Select Committee report and cross party consensus reached on further defining the role and powers of the FMA.
Both Mr Allen and Mr Hughes said they were comfortable with the key changes recommended by the Commerce Select Committee.
“We look forward to the FMA’s establishment and to starting work in earnest in May.
“Through our work with the Establishment Board, we have already made considerable progress toward establishing the new authority.
“It’s a huge challenge and responsibility to be tasked with the job of facilitating the growth and supervision of New Zealand’s securities markets.”
