The Palms Shopping Centre

Media statement Tuesday 8 March 2011

The Palms Shopping Centre

The Palms Shopping Centre will remain closed for at least four to six weeks to allow for necessary remedial and shop fitting work to specific precincts. Thereafter the centre will undertake a phased reopening of the various retail precincts as repairs are effected.

Currently there is no public access to any centre facilities including the ATM machines, car parks and cinemas.

AMP Capital Shopping Centres (AMPCSC) senior centre manager Jennifer Andrews said: “The Palms team is here for the people of Christchurch, and to show our gratitude for the outpouring of support we have received from retailers and customers, AMP will be donating $700,000 to those affected by the earthquake.

“In addition, the AMP Foundation and AMP will match employee and adviser / planner donations dollar for dollar up to $300,000 in New Zealand and Australia.

“Our thoughts remain with everyone working to get back on their feet. We are undertaking a remedial project that will see The Palms restored and better than before – just like our city.”

Anyone who wishes to make a donation in support of Christchurch can participate in the earthquake appeal at collection points in-centre at the two other AMP Capital Shopping Centres, Botany Town Centre in East Auckland and Bayfair Shopping Centre in Tauranga.

Retailers and customers can keep up-to-date with the progress being made via The Palms Shopping Centre Facebook page, Twitter page and website.
