New Chair of Owen Glenn's Foundation

AUCKLAND, New Zealand. Monday, March 28 2011

The Glenn Family Foundation, a global humanitarian organization, is excited to announce its latest member to its Board of Trustees, Barry Spicer who will hold the role of Chairman. Professor Spicer's experience in education spans over 45 years, including a decade as Dean of the University of Auckland Business School. During this time, Spicer’s strategic leadership saw the School gain international recognition. His dedication and guidance contributed to the School's transformation, and the raising of over NZ$75 million in funds, $8 million of which was donated by the Glenn Family Foundation.

Presently, Spicer is a professor in the University of Auckland Business School. In the past he has been a trustee member and director of The ICEHOUSE Limited. This is an international center for entrepreneurship, which is a partnership between the University of Auckland and a number of companies including The Bank of New Zealand, Hewlett Packard, Ernst & Young and Microsoft.

Spicer now brings his experience and leadership success to the Glenn Family Foundation, and is excited about helping the global not-for-profit organization to continue to expand its philanthropic work.

"I am looking forward to working with Owen Glenn and the Glenn Family Foundation to improve opportunities for people who want to help themselves. The Foundation has done much to support education and sports in New Zealand but also works in countries like India and Fiji improving access to education, health care, clean water, good sanitation and the means for sustaining families and communities" says Spicer.

Given the vast scope of worthy causes coupled with its dedication to affect positive change, the Glenn Family Foundation is inspired to continue its search for projects worldwide with a focus on the Asia-Pacific region.

Armed with a passion to end child labour and child sex slavery, the Glenn Family Foundation focus at the root of the problem by providing basic necessities through its 'Model Village Project' to positively impact peoples' lives and stop the cycle of child trafficking forever.

GFF founder, Owen Glenn, is thrilled Professor Spicer has accepted the position of Chairman and feels that his guidance will further diversify and increase the reach of humanitarian aid offered by his Foundation.

"I have known Barry for a long time and not only is he a highly intelligent strategic thinker, he knows how to make things happen. I have complete confidence the Foundation will go from strength to strength with Barry at the helm," says Owen Glenn.
