ENEX petroleum event draws expert speakers
A line-up of Aussie experts feature at the inaugural EnergyNZ ENEX event for the oil and gas industry, which will be held in New Plymouth June 9 & 10, 2011.
They include Dr John Conolly, who has over 30 years of petroleum experience in the Australian and international arenas.
Dr Conolly, who is a keynote speaker on day one of the two-day ENEX event, is the executive chairman of the board of Rawson Resources (Rawson), an Australian-based oil and natural gas exploration company with permits in the Otway, Surat, Cooper and Pedirka Basins, and Kiwi exploration interests in the Taranaki, Northland and Canterbury basins.
Rawson secured its interest in a permit in the Taranaki offshore basin last year through its shareholding in Kea Petroleum and, in September last year, its 50 percent interest in a permit in the Canterbury Basin, with operator Zeanco holding the remaining 50 percent.
The company has also started an exploration programme for Coal Seam Gas (CSM) in Queensland and the Northern Territory.
Another Aussie speaker at ENEX is Brian Mulcahy, the managing director of HIMA Australia, a Platinum sponsor of the event. With a career spanning 26 years in the field of SCADA and automation systems engineering, Brian will explain how automated safety systems can balance the tension between profitability, safety, protecting the environment and safeguarding assets and your corporate reputation.
On the subject of environmental and social costs, Stuart Cassie, director – improve services, WorleyParsons (Australia) will share his experience of a unique approach being used internationally to integrate these costs and benefits into traditional oil and gas project economics. Until the end of 2006 Stuart was based in the UK where he was formerly a European director of WorleyParsons; he is now based in Sydney.
Zac John, who leads the geomechanics group in Schlumberger Australia, and is current president of FESAus, will be talking on ‘unlocking the geomechanics mystery in the life of your field’, with a focus on how a 3D geomechanics model can be used as a powerful tool in drilling and production.
Conferenz conference manager Kevin Smit says, “Through sponsor partners and support from the Australian Trade Commission, we have engaged a number of top Australian petroleum experts for the two-day ENEX event, that makes attendance for anyone in the New Zealand oil and gas industry a must.”
