Timeless Swiss Timepieces Arrive In Parnell
Brent Sutcliffe, New Zealand’s award winning Master Goldsmith and internationally lauded jeweler, is now sole New Zealand distributer of two of the world’s finest watch brands.
Representing the oldest and the newest of Swiss watchmakers, pieces from Blancpain and Franck Muller are now displayed elegantly in Sutcliffe’s beautifully appointed new look Parnell Showroom.
The Swiss watchmaking industry has for centuries been recognized as the center of global excellence for the crafting of timepieces. Both Blancpain and Franck Muller are considered prestigious above all others in this market.
Blancpain, founded in 1735 and the oldest Swiss watch brand still in production, is renowned for crafting classic timepieces with elegant styling. The company’s adherence to uncompromising quality sees it make fewer than 10,000 watches a year, with each watch made by a single watchmaker.
Famous for some of the world’s most complicated watches, including the Blancpain 1735, of which just 30 pieces will ever be made, and the Fifty-Fathoms, worn by the United States Navy and Jacques-Yves Cousteau, Blancpain has also created the world’s smallest and thinnest movements (internal mechanism).
In contrast, Franck Muller is a brand not only renowned for its technical expertise but also its eccentric styling.
Famous for watches with multiple complications, Franck Muller created his first wristwatches in 1983 and since has established his reputation as a master of turning the art of timekeeping on its head.
Each year Muller launches at least one new range of timepieces and has lead the field of watchmaking in recent years, with pieces that reflect his boundless imagination and creativity.
Franck Muller holds 30 world premiers (world firsts) in complicated watchmaking including the world’s most complicated timepiece the Aeternitas Mega 4. This features 36 complicationswith 25 of them visible, 1,483 components and a 1,000-year calendar. It takes 5 years of work to complete and comes with a price tag of USD $2.7 million.
His innovations include his Cintree Curvex shape and the perpetual calendar, the Crazy Hours watch, which replaces the conventional arrangement of the hours from 1 to 12 with a random order and his Master Banker Collection, which keeps time in multiple zones simultaneously.
He also holds the record for the world’s smallest Tourbillion, and this year will hold the record for the world’s largest Tourbillion, the Franck Muller Giga Tourbillion.
Both the Blancpain and Franck Muller ranges represent the most intricate in craftsmanship and each range features a number of executions, allowing the discerning customer to choose the level of extravagance they desire.
Made from the finest of materials and with price tags that start at $14,000, a selection of pieces from each range is displayed at the Sutcliffe showroom, with the complete range available on order.
Adding these brands to his own exquisite handcrafted pieces of jewelry, affirms Sutcliffe as the destination for thediscerning customer.
