WPA Farewells Chair
WPA Farewells Chair
13 April 2011
Mark Hansen of Rosvall Sawmill has stepped in as the interim Chair of the Wood Processors' Association of New Zealand, following today's resignation of Chairman Rob Davies.
"Rob has been an extremely valuable asset to WPA, and the board are sorry to see him leave" said Mr Hansen.
"Rob served as Chair during a period of transition for WPA, as we were in the process of changing chief executives, and his leadership during this time ensured the transition was handled smoothly."
Mr Davies was appointed Chair in April 2010. He had previously served on the board since early 2008 while CE of Carter Holt Harvey Woodproducts.
"WPA is an important and integral part of the processing sector, bringing together companies worth over $4.2 billion to the NZ economy, and has had many major successes in recent times - including active involvement in both the recently announced Single Hazard Class for timber, and the Timber Quality Scheme currently in a pilot stage. These results owe a significant debt to Rob's leadership on the WPA board." Mr Davies resignation was for reasons unrelated to the activities of the Association. The WPA board will elect a new chair and deputy in the coming weeks.
