Zealand
Squealing Pig has a new addition to the family with the introduction of its Squealing Pig Pinot Noir variety – just in time for winter.
Similar to its namesake, Squealing Pig is cheeky, bold, irreverent, but also really tasty! Drinkers can expect nothing but an unsurpassed taste. Having spent 10 months in French Oak, this Squealing Pig Pinot Noir is deep red in colour with vibrant purple hues and a hint of cocoa aromas on the nose. The palate is rich and generous with velvet like tannins, followed by an intense burst of blackberries, dark cherries and dried herbs with a wonderful length to the finish.
The name itself in an interesting one, not necessarily one associated with wine. It’s the actual name of the vineyard where the Squealing Pig Sauvignon Blanc was born in Marlborough’s Awatere Valley, and has been for some 100 odd years. Rumour has it that pigs with a happy nature lived in the vicinity of the vineyard when it was still a regular farm. Either way we like the name and think it suits the wine’s cheeky and irreverent personality. To create this Pinot Noir, we needed some top notch parcels of fruit to deliver a stunning wine, so this little pig ventured further south to Central Otago – the land of Pinots.
Squealing Pig Pinot Noir is available from Liquorland, various premium liquor stores and upmarket bars nationwide. RRP $27.99.
