Rakon Hi-Tech Company of the Decade

Rakon Hi-Tech Company of the Decade

Auckland, May 9, 2011. Rakon (NZX: RAK) is proud to not only be the winner of the 2011 PwC Hi-Tech Company of the Year at the NZ Hi-Tech Awards, but also to be recognised as the New Zealand Trade and Enterprise Hi-Tech Company of the Decade (2000 - 2010).

Rakon is the first company in the Awards 17 year history to twice win the prestigious Company of the Year award and the first company to be honoured with recognition for being the leading company in the industry over the last 10 years.

"It means a lot to us to receive recognition for all the hard work and success we've had over the last decade," said Brent Robinson, Rakon CEO. "We were up against some fantastic companies and it was quite humbling to win."

The Hi-Tech Awards recognise excellence across New Zealand's software, electronics, biotechnology, telecommunications and creative technology industries.

The exclusive international judging panel were impressed by all five contenders for the Company of the Decade Award, commenting that, "collectively the companies give great weight to the argument that geography is not destiny - you can build a great global business no matter where you start from". The judges described Rakon as "gutsy and innovative, with an excellent team and spectacular growth", declaring that "Rakon is a company that is truly international in appeal".

This year's Awards were judged by a panel of 48 local judges and 11 international judges including Dell founder Michael Dell, Howard Charney, Senior Vice President, Cisco and Gary Hamel, Fellow, World Economic Forum and the Strategic Management Society.
