Jamie Tuuta welcomed to Maori Trustee role
25 May 2011
The outgoing Maori Trustee has welcomed the appointment of Jamie Tuuta to the position. The Maori Trustee manages around 2,000 properties on behalf of 130,000 beneficial owners comprising 100,000 hectares of Maori freehold land and other assets. The Maori Trustee also manages some $150m in funds.
John Paki said he was pleased a candidate of such high calibre had been appointed to the role. “I would like to thank all Maori Trustee staff for their dedication, loyalty and resilience. “We have been through a period of significant change, both in the lead up to and after the Government passing legislation (2009) making the Maori Trustee an independent entity in its own right”.
“Even now the Maori Trustee continues to evolve,” he said Mr Paki said he was pleased that he will leave the Maori Trustee in a strong financial position.
He said there are an increasing number of trustee and development opportunities for the Maori Trustee to consider. “It is an exciting time,” he said.
