NZHC welcomes New Zealand International Convention Centre announcement
The New Zealand Hotel Council welcomes the announcement by the government that SKYCITY has been selected to develop the New Zealand International Convention Centre (NZICC) on its site at 101 Hobson St, Auckland.
“The development of the New Zealand International Convention Centre will be a huge boost for the conference and exhibition sector in New Zealand” says Jennie Langley, New Zealand Hotel Council Independent Chair.
“With an estimated increase of over 100,000 visitor nights Auckland hotels certainly stand to benefit from this long- awaited development but there will also be spin-off opportunities for the wider tourism industry as New Zealand becomes known as a major international conference and exhibitions destination.”
“The generation of 800 new skilled jobs is also great news. There are talented and dedicated hospitality and tourism people working in this sector already and this development opens up a range of additional career opportunities for everyone.”
