Marisco Vineyards signs distribution agreement in China

Marisco Vineyards signs distribution agreement in China

Marisco Vineyards announced today that it has signed a national distribution agreement with Tianjin Dynasty International Wine Co. (³Dynasty²) in China. Dynasty is China¹s leading premium wine producer and from September will distribute Marisco Vineyards¹ two brands, The Ned and The King¹s Series, through its national distribution network.

Marisco Vineyards Proprietor and Chief Winemaker Brent Marris met with Mr Lu, Director and General Manager for Dynasty, for a prestigious ceremonial signing of the contract in Tianjin last week.

³We are very excited by this agreement as it gives us a foothold in the Asian market with a partner that is well versed in quality winemaking but also effective distribution. We believe Dynasty is the perfect partner for distributing the best Marlborough wines in China,² says Marris.

On the deal Mr Lu says, ³We are very excited to have Marisco Vineyards as our New Zealand partner, and to distribute their wonderful wines in Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. This enhances our international portfolio. We offer the best wines from premium international producers into the Chinese market.²

Marisco Vineyards has its first discussions with Dynasty in August 2010, following a scoping trip arranged by the ANZ bank.

³It seems ironic that while we were in China signing this deal last week there was a lot of discussion going on in New Zealand about the inability of individual companies to gain a foothold in China, and the wine industry was being held up as an example.

³We have always said that if you invest in relationships the world is your oyster. We¹ve been working hard at our relationships in China for the past year, and it is pleasing to see this hard work pay off.² says Marris.

The first shipment of Marisco Vineyards wine sold in China will be from the 2011 vintage, which Marris believes has been one of the best Marlborough vintages for some time. ³We¹re in an exciting phase at the moment‹a new, game-changing distribution deal with China, an excellent vintage, and the completion of phase 1 of our state-of-the-art winery all mean we¹re putting our best foot forward internationally,² says Marris.
