EIT Sweeps up at Hair Awards
At the weekend's Regional Fashion Hair Design Awards EIT swept up two categories.
Held at the Rodney Green Centennial Hall in Napier on Sunday, four EIT student competitors claimed prizes.
In the pre-apprentice trade long simple hair up category, EIT students took out all the winning places. Winners were Yahna Smith placing first, Rebecca Gearey placing second, and Rebecca Walker placing third.
In the pre-apprentice trade complex blow-wave category, second year student Tania Gardner came first.
Jewelle Lloyd, programme coordinator for hairdressing said that having only eight weeks to get these students to industry level so they could compete was quite a challenge.
"To prepare the students,
the teaching team held a preliminary competition so those
students who shone would be well-prepared for this
event."
"The students were very professional in their
personal presentation and their hairdressing practice at the
competition."
