Ted van Arkel appointed to Abano Board

Healthcare investor and operator, Abano Healthcare Group Limited, is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Ted van Arkel to the Board, effective immediately.

In addition to being Chairman of Restaurant Brands NZ Limited and Charlie’s Group Limited, Ted is also a director of a number of public and private companies which include The Warehouse Group Limited, Allied Work Force Group Limited, Danske Mobler Limited and La Grouw Corporation Limited.

Prior to Ted becoming a professional director, he was managing director of Progressive Enterprises Limited. He retired from that company at the end of 2004 after the successful integration of Woolworths (NZ) Limited.

He is also the Chairman of UNITEC NZ and Health Benefits Limited as well as a Director of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce.

Chairman of Abano, Alison Paterson, commented: “We are pleased to welcome Ted to the Board. He has a depth and breadth of retail and governance experience and expertise which will be of value to Abano as the company continues to expand, both in New Zealand and internationally.”

Mr van Arkel has been appointed to the Abano Board by the current Abano directors, as permitted by Abano’s constitution, and will hold office until Abano’s 2011 annual meeting at which time he will offer himself for election by shareholders. The Board has determined that Mr van Arkel is an Independent Director (for the purposes of NZSX Listing Rule 3.3.2).
