Dunedin EcoLodge Top 10 Finalist

Kaimata Retreat on Otago Peninsula has been announced as a category finalist for ‘Lodges of New Zealand’ in the 2011 HM Awards. The exclusive retreat is one of three South Island Lodges making the ‘Top 10’ for their category and one of two Dunedin properties in the awards; the other is St Clair Beach Resort a NZ Regional Property finalist.

“We are absolutely thrilled and honoured to be 2011 finalists alongside these other highly respected properties,” say retreat owners Kyle Davidson and Rachel Duell. “It’s such a wonderful and unexpected surprise.”

Kaimata Retreat is a boutique (three bedroom) ecolodge located at Papanui Inlet on Dunedin’s Otago Peninsula. It has Qualmark 4star plus (Guest & Hosted), and Qualmark EnviroSilver ratings and has been operating since 2005. The two other South Island lodge nominees are also located in Otago, Blanket Bay (Glenorchy) and Matakauri (Queenstown).

Management Awards for the Asia Pacific rim are in their 9th year. A record 1600 entries were received this year, which have been honed to top 10 nominees in 48 categories following hoursof voting by over 20 judges. The gala dinner is to be held in Sydney on 2 September 2011.
