Coolstore Worker Recovering
A coolstore worker employed by Auckland Pack & Cool Ltd. (APAC) in Alfriston is recovering well in Middlemore Hospital after collapsing at work on Tuesday night.
APAC Managing Director, Jan Benes, visited the employee this morning. “It’s wonderful to see that he has regained consciousness and is conversing with his family. I have been advised that he is due to be moved from intensive care to a recovery ward.”
“We are absolutely delighted with the progress that he has made, and this news has come as a huge relief for fellow staff members and colleagues,” said Mr Benes.
“We’re very lucky to have an excellent team of workers here at APAC, who really look out for one another, and I’m hugely grateful for their quick actions.”
Mr Benes said the company will continue to work closely with Police and the Department of Labour to investigate the cause of the incident.
Auckland Pack & Cool is a fruit packing and coolstorage operation, based in Alfriston, south of Auckland.
