Farm and
lifestyle block sales numbers on the increase
The number of farms and lifestyle blocks sold in the Northland and Greater Auckland area are on the increase.
In July Barfoot & Thompson sold 36 rural properties for a total value of $23.9 million.
“This brings the total number of properties sold in the past seven months to 206,” said Peter Thompson, Managing Director of Barfoot & Thompson.
“This is 26 properties, or 14 percent more properties, than was sold during the same period last year.
“Last year, on monthly basis we averaged 25 sales and month and in 2009, 27. This year to date we are averaging 29 sales a month.
“Given the great variation in farms and lifestyle blocks sold, and the significant variations in values that can occur, care needs to be taken in comparing the difference in price movements for different types of property, but farms and lifestyle blocks sales numbers are definitely improving.
“For the first 7 months of this year we have sold property to the value of $166 million, $4 million more than during the first 7 months of 2010.”
