Sacred Hill wins Gold in International Wine Show

Sacred Hill Wines have been awarded Gold for its 2009 Sacred Hill HALO Chardonnay at the 2011 New Zealand International Wine Show. The winery also received three silver and three bronze medals including silver for its renowned Special Selection wine, 2010 Sacred Hill Rifleman’s Chardonnay.

The New Zealand International Wine Show is the largest wine competition held in New Zealand, with wines from around the world of any variety taking part. Over 2,080 wines were presented as part of the competition and these wins confirm Sacred Hill’s reputation for producing quality New Zealand wines.

The gold winning Sacred Hill HALO Chardonnay is a premium wine with grapes sourced from the award winning Riflemans Vineyard in the Dartmoor Valley in Hawke’s Bay, which is renowned for producing high end wines. Only a limited amount of this wine is produced with the size of each parcel of wine influenced to a large extent by the quality of grapes.

“The Gold for our HALO Chardonnay displays Riflemans vineyard’s unique ability to make award winning wines in a range of styles. We are incredibly passionate about chardonnay, and we’ll have more exciting wines from this vineyard to share soon.

“This being an International Show, these results are further evidence that Hawke’s Bay produces world class wines which are also commercially priced. These medals continue to confirm the vineyard’s reputation of a quality approach to viticulture and winemaking,” says Tony Bish, senior winemaker Sacred Hill.
