Business
Auckland, New Zealand, August 25, 2011 - Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext and NYSE: ALU) has chosen Andrew Miller to lead its business in New Zealand. He takes over from Jyoti Mahurkar-Thombre who was promoted to President of Delivery for the Asia-Pacific region.
Miller comes
to New Zealand with a strong telecommunications pedigree. It
includes nine years with Orange-France Telecom where he was
a key member of their operations team. He was responsible
for delivering large operational optimisation programmes,
including outsourcing network operations across different
countries. More recently, Miller was Alcatel-Lucent's
Strategic Deals Director.
"Andrew understands the challenges facing operators because he's walked in their shoes. He knows how to manage complex transformation programmes and deliver results," said Rajeev Singh-Molares, President Alcatel-Lucent Asia Pacific.
"Andrew has been in New Zealand for the past five months working with the team on a series of initiatives. He is well placed to maintain the momentum."
Miller said he was looking forward to the role. "With New Zealand making an aggressive digital economy push, it's showing a belief in telecoms' potential to deliver growth."
