Sony transforms the notion of ‘light reading’

For Immediate Release

Sony transforms the notion of ‘light reading’ with the new Reader WiFi Touch

• Over one month of battery life • Advanced, high-contrast touch screen • Built-in dictionary • Pinch to zoom • Read comfortably day or night with the E-Ink Pearl screen

Auckland – 6 September, 2011 –

Reading has never been more advanced with the launch of the new Reader™ WiFi Touch, the world’s lightest1 6-inch eReader from Sony.

The device slips easily into a bag or pocket, and is no bigger than a paperback book – at 8.9mm thin and weighing just 168 grams, it’s comfortable to hold, with a gentle curving profile that fits naturally in your hand.

With a battery life of over one month (up to three weeks with wireless turned on) and enough storage capacity to hold about 1200 eBooks via the internal memory (expandable up to 32GB with an optional microSD card), Reader WiFi Touch makes reading easier, virtually anytime, anywhere.

Books can be enjoyed day or night on the advanced glare-free Dual Touch screen and E-Ink Pearl electronic paper for a high-contrast image that is easy to read for hours, even in direct sunlight. Like a traditional book, readers can also ‘write’ notes on the page or highlight text with a finger or the supplied stylus.

Using the advanced touch screen, book lovers can choose a book, swipe a finger to turn the page, zoom in and out by pinching fingers together or apart and tap on a word and hold to find its meaning from two built-in English language dictionaries.
