Wool Market Generally Steady
New Zealand Wool Services International Limited’s General Manager, Mr John Dawson reports that the 11,500 bales of South Island wool on sale this week saw an 89.4 percent clearance and a generally steady market for most categories.
The weighted indicator for the main trading currencies eased slightly by 0.88 percent compared to the last sale on 8th September.
Mr Dawson advises that the Merino Fleece was firm to 3 percent stronger. Mid Micron Fleece finer than 26.5 microns was between 1 and 2.5 percent easier with 27 to 31.5 microns 1 to 2 percent dearer.
Fine Crossbred Fleece were firm with the Second Shear types 1 to 3 percent firmer. Coarse Crossbred Fleece were generally Buyers Favour with Coarse Shears firm to 2 percent stronger.
Combing oddments, which were over pressured last week eased by up to 5 percent. The short oddments were 1.5 to 3.5 percent dearer.
Well spread interest with China, Australasia, Middle East and United Kingdom principal, supported by Western Europe and India.
Next sale on 22nd September comprises approximately 10,500 bales of North Island wool.
