New Taranaki business all about motivation

New Taranaki business all about motivation

Stratford’s Peter Mischefski has established M3 Motivation to help people cope with life situations and perform better at work, school and in sport.

“In this day and age of financial and social pressures, along with the demands placed on us all to perform, sometimes we need some help,” Peter says.

The snooker champion, brain injury survivor and businessman believes it’s important to go back to the basics and work on “how” we think, as opposed to “what” we think.

The cornerstones of M3 Motivation – coping with stress, enhancing performance and how to feel good – will be covered at the official launch of the new business next month. During the October 3 launch, Peter (pictured left) will also outline the philosophy of M3 Motivation, a business based on the power of the mind and the control it has over people’s perceptions.

“It all starts with a positive outlook and feeling good whilst maximizing life – the most valuable commodity of all,” he says.

For the past two-and-a-half years, Peter has been delivering motivational talks to groups and organisations around Taranaki and has had a great deal of positive feedback.

That led to his decision to start M3 Motivation with the help of his son Andrew (pictured below), who has just completed his science degree majoring in psychology.

Peter says that when he takes on new clients, the first step is to have an introductory meeting highlighting goals, targets and issues to be addressed.

M3 Motivation will then take this information and formulate the appropriate presentation to be delivered about a week later. The presentations usually take up to an hour and can be a one off talk or include follow-up sessions if required.

Whether the client is a company, sports team or school, Peter believes it is crucial that management and staff, coaches and players, teachers and pupils attend the presentation to ensure the message is heard by all.

“The balancing act of managing expectations and accepting reality at the same time as striving for perfection and reaching goals plays a major part in these presentations,” he says.

Along with a natural flair for engaging with people, Peter has learned the finer points of public speaking through Toastmasters.

He’s also got a life-time of experience to call on, including his determined recovery from a car accident in 1989, which left him in a coma for a week and with serious head injuries.

“When something like that happens, you change your views on life and discover what’s really important. No 1 is being happy,” says Peter, who made a miraculous comeback.

The formal launch of M3 Motivation is being held at Espresso Café in New Plymouth on Monday, October 3 at 7.30pm.
