Appreciation motivates workers more than money survey shows
Friday 23rd September 2011
“Acknowledgement
and appreciation” motivate far more than money according
to newly-released Employee Insights Survey
Nearly a third of New
Zealand employees surveyed (32.8%) cite acknowledgement and
appreciation as their key motivator in the workplace, with a
lowly 11.8% rating money as their first priority, according
to the second edition of the Employee Insights Survey
conducted by leading international recruitment consultancy
Robert Walters this year.
Published in its entirety
today, the Employee Insights Survey canvassed New
Zealand employees across the disciplines of Accounting,
Finance & Banking, General Management, Human Resources,
Information Technology, Procurement & Supply Chain, Sales &
Marketing; and Secretarial & Business Support. The Survey
explores how candidates find new job opportunities, what
work-life balance initiatives employees have available to
them and the experience candidates have when returning to
New Zealand from overseas.
Coming a close second to
acknowledgement and appreciation, 32.1% of respondents felt
that the challenges of their role encouraged them the most,
with nearly a quarter (23.3%) stating that they were most
motivated by their colleagues and/or company culture.
