One Woman's Mission to Improve Quality of Care
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
One Woman's Mission to Improve the Quality of Care Delivered in the Aged, Residential and Home Care Industries
Auckland, New Zealand - September 16 2011
Leigh Kelly has launched a comprehensive website that offers easily accessible and affordable training for the aged and residential care industry.
Now the public can be assured of consistent ongoing professional development for caregivers looking after the very vulnerable in our society.
What is so unique about this training is that all care staff can now receive the same consistent training 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This affordable training option provides residential care facilities and home care operators with a tool developed by a very experienced Registered Nurse Educator. All the organisation has to do is become a member of Care Training Online and have access to the internet.
Currently there are 13 topics available with new topics added monthly so that all topics required by District Health Board Contracts and Ministry of Health can be accessed. Providing membership is kept current they will have access to unlimited training for their staff and 1 new topic is added each month.
The organisation can now train a single person, a small group of caregivers or if they have a large group it can be run through a data projector. Each topic is divided into short segments to make it convenient for caregivers' schedules. No longer can a caregiver claim they are not available for training. It can all be done easily in work time or if they choose to do it in their own time then they can do it at home.
Plus the short segments allow caregivers to do small bites of training to make it easier to retain the knowledge. If they need help in a particular area they can also go straight to the section they require. There are also additional video resources to help further supplement learning.
The topics also come with worksheets, answer keys and certificates so facilities can prove to auditors their staff have received training in the required topics. It also helps when new staff come from other facilities also using Care Training Online as managers have a consistent way of measuring their staff's training.
Kathy from a Young Physically and Intellectually Residential Care Facility says "I have listened to the training topics and I have found them to be more than adequate for our needs. The simple language and content is very good and the worksheets should be easily achievable. You have done an excellent job."
Michelle, the Clinical Co-ordinator at Malyon House Te Puke says "What I like about Care Training Online is that it saves me a lot of time. I now don't have to source, prepare and provide the training as it is all there for me to facilitate. I find that it puts the onus on to the staff to be responsible for their own training which is fantastic."
