Petrol Prices - Easing the Burden the Kiwi Way

MEDIA RELEASE Date: 27 September 2011 For Immediate Release

Petrol Prices - Easing the Burden the Kiwi Way

New Zealanders now have the opportunity to reduce the burden of petrol costs by getting paid to use their personal vehicles to transport goods for their peers.

“The expense of petrol is an ongoing concern for many New Zealander’s and Payload.co.nz provides the necessary means for them to alleviate those concerns” said Payload co-founder Nick Carroll.

Thanks to the introduction of www.payload.co.nz, Kiwis can advertise their relevant travel details online and be matched up with fellow Kiwis who need their goods transported along the same route.

“On one hand you have thousands of Kiwis traveling places within New Zealand with spare space in their vehicles and on the other hand you have thousands of Kiwis needing their goods shipped to the same places, so it makes sense to peer them up” said Nick.

Payload.co.nz, which launched on 20 September 2011, gives Kiwis not only a chance to help themselves, but to help others who want their goods transported for the cheapest possible price.

“By allowing people to advertise online, their freight is put in an environment where numerous people can compete for the job and therefore naturally lower the freight cost” said Nick.

However, Payload.co.nz offers more than just an opportunity for Kiwis to pay for petrol and reduce freight costs. What started as a goal to revolutionise the way Kiwis freight has turned into much more.

“Utilising personal transport to carry goods has the potential to reduce the number of dedicated freight vehicles required on the road, less vehicles means less carbon emissions and a reduction in the size of New Zealand’s Carbon footprint” says Brad Hislop, fellow co-founder of Payload.

“But Payload.co.nz isn’t just for people with personal vehicles, it can equally be used by courier and freight companies who often have empty, or partially empty, trucks and vans, especially on return trips” Brad goes on to say.

Payload.co.nz is expected to become New Zealand’s one-stop shop for people to manage their freight (including all those online purchases) making the need to shop around for quotes a thing of the past.

How it works: For Kiwis travelling somewhere (eg on holiday or to work):

1. create a ‘trip’ listing 2. payload.co.nz will automatically match your listing with any goods that need to be transported along your route 3. you place an offer to transport one or more peoples goods 4. you make money which you can use to pay for petrol (or anything else you choose).

For Kiwis with goods that need transporting somewhere (eg your latest online purchase):

1. create a ‘load’ listing 2. payload.co.nz will automatically match your listing with anyone who can transport your goods for you 3. you receive offers to transport your goods 4. you save money by listing your goods in an environment where people compete to transport it.
