Auckland Airport shines at global marketing awards
The 2011 World Routes Airport Marketing Awards has seen Auckland Airport receive the highly commended award for airport marketing in the Asia region.
The World Routes Airport Marketing Awards recognise excellence in airport marketing as voted exclusively by the world’s airlines. They have been held annually for the last 14 years and are widely considered to be the most highly regarded awards in the industry.
Announced last night in Berlin at the Berlin Networking Evening, the awards saw Auckland Airport share the highly commended award with Changi Airport, becoming the only airport in Australasia to receive an award at the event.
This award is not the first of its kind for Auckland Airport, who received a highly commended award for airport marketing in the Asia-Pacific region at both the 2011 and 2009 Routes Asia Conference, and was also the winner of the over-all Global Award for Airport Marketing in the Asia region at the 2010 Global World Routes Awards.
Glenn Wedlock, general manager aeronautical commercial, said “It is extremely rewarding to be recognised by the global airline industry as a leader in air service development.”
“Our successes are in partnership with our airline customers – wherever and however we can deliver additional yield or volume benefits, we’ll actively participate. We have undertaken research on each airline serving Auckland and their markets and customer segments, and chosen to participate where we can make the most difference. “
“To receive this award on top of our previous airport marketing awards is very encouraging as it is evidence that all the hard work we put into air-service development is really paying off.”
