The fresh new face of Auckland hospitality
A recent flourish of fresh and innovative hospitality outlets in Auckland city coincides with a fresh new brand for the hospitality industry. Perhaps spurred by the carrot dangled enticingly by the recent Rugby World Cup or perhaps in spite of the tournament, some of Auckland hospitality’s most talented entrepreneurs are changing and enhancing the face of Auckland’s entertainment scene for the enjoyment of visitors and locals alike.
Hospitality New Zealand, formerly known as HANZ, sees this revolution as indicative of where the industry is going here in New Zealand. Tourism and hospitality’s largest industry organisation says their recent name change reflects the increasing diversification of the industry. “We’re all part of a global village” says, regional manager for Auckland city, Astrid Fisher. “Visitors and well-travelled New Zealanders alike are looking for hospitality experiences in Auckland that are as entertaining as you would expect from any international city. Charming country pubs, inner-city hotels, late night venues, suburban bars, classy bistros and bustling cafes all have their place in hospitality. It’s the way they innovate and differentiate that provides the wow factor and sets them apart”
The Auckland Branch of Hospitality New Zealand has provided the following examples of the fresh and innovative new face of hospitality in Auckland. Branch President Warren Stewart says “These businesses have been developed by young energetic business people with a passion for what they do, and the talent to do it well”. Several of these businesses are national finalists in the association’s Hospitality Showcase to be held in Christchurch this evening.
