Employers’
Chamber Head Steps Down
The Employers’ Chamber of
Commerce Central (ECCC) today announced that its CE, Ken
Harris, has resigned due to commitments related to his
directorships and investments with businesses outside of
ECCC.
The incoming President, John Johnston, said that the demands on Mr Harris’s time relating to these commitments have made it impractical to continue as CEO of ECCC.
“We regret the need for Mr Harris to move on, but we do acknowledge the difficulty he had with competing demands for his time.
“Mr Harris has overseen a successful merger of the old Wellington Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Employers and Manufacturers Association (Central). The Board is delighted the merger is now complete and that the services and people are working as a single organisation,” John Johnston said.
“The success of the merger is a result of efforts of both executive and staff, particularly given the trying economic times and the complexities of merging processes, staff and IT,” Mr Johnston said.
A search for a new CE to oversee consolidation and refining of both membership activities and services will begin shortly.
Mr John Johnston, Westpac's
Head of Government Relations, has also moved into the Chair
as President of ECCC, taking over from Jo Bransgrove who has
completed an extended term as President.
