Recruitment Agency Opens Waikato/Bay of Plenty
Office
New Zealand’s largest Information Communications Technology (ICT) recruitment agency is opening a Hamilton office this month to service the rapidly expanding information technology sector in the Waikato and Bay of Plenty regions.
AbsoluteIT, which has offices in Auckland, Wellington and the United Kingdom, has been recruiting for the region since 2007, servicing major corporates in the commercial and public sector who seek specialist ICT personnel.
“It’s now time to open a permanent base in this region where we see a huge opportunity,” says Martin Barry, AbsoluteIT Director& Northern Region General Manager.
“It’s one of the country’s fastest growing IT hubs, yet has increasing skill shortages and very little in the way of dedicated IT recruitment services.”
Barry says the Waikato and Bay of Plenty region is also increasingly popular as a location among IT professionals with 110 percent growth in the number of AbsoluteIT candidates seeking local work over the past three years.
Market research has also shown strong support from local businesses for an AbsoluteIT office to support their increasing IT recruitment needs.
Demand is strong for Project Resources, Business Intelligence capability, Microsoft Development professionals along with increasing demand for infrastructure capability due to vendor commitment and investment in data centre building.
“This is being driven by the need to offer cloud-based solutions and word-class disaster recovery sites to the New Zealand market,” Barry says.
“Ultimately, we have experienced steady growth year on year locally and are delighted to offer a specialist ICT recruitment presence to support this growing region."
Regional manager for the new Hamilton-based office will be Brian Bernard, a senior IT professional with more than 25 years’ experience in the sector internationally. Brian will be relocating from Wellington where he has been a Team Manager with AbsoluteIT for the past four years.
“I’m passionate about the Waikato and Bay of Plenty, one of the most beautiful places in the country offering IT professionals not only great career development opportunities but a fantastic lifestyle,” says Bernard.
“Currently most IT professionals are heading to Auckland and Wellington for work, but this region opens a new raft of opportunities and we’ll be marketing it to high quality professionals in New Zealand and internationally.”
Originally from the United Kingdom, Brian has expertise as a Senior Executive in training, recruiting, consultation and business solutions. Prior to joining AbsoluteIT, he served as a Senior Manager of two United States companies which he helped expand to very successful businesses.
