Criterion Manufacturing workers seek support from government agencies
Workers from Auckland-based furniture manufacturer, Criterion Manufacturing, which went into receivership last week, meet in Papatoetoe this afternoon and tomorrow to explore what assistance they can get from WINZ and Inland Revenue.
About 40 EPMU members worked at the East Tamaki factory, with over 100 staff in total employed by the company and its subsidiary operations. Criterion is now in the hands of the Australian receivers, KordaMentha.
“We organised meetings this afternoon and tomorrow to enable WINZ and IRD staff to talk with the Criterion workers so they are able to get the complete picture of what’s available to them in terms of financial support and advice,” says Louisa Jones, EPMU National Industry Organiser.
The Criterion staff meetings are being held at the Papatoetoe Cosmopolitan Club, 52 Rangitoto Road, Papatoetoe this afternoon (9 February) and tomorrow afternoon (10 February) from 2pm to 5pm. Mangere MP, Sua William Sio, will also be at the Friday meeting.
